EVERYONE is a good fit for trauma-informed yoga. Trauma-informed yoga is an approach to teaching that focuses on choice, present-moment experience, and resource-building. Basically this means you’re going to hear OPTIONS for each shape or flow so you can make you practice your own. You’ll also be invited to check in with how you’re feeling and attune your practice to that. Because of this you’ll be building your mindfulness muscle which will help you take advantage of mindfulness and yoga off the mat.

You will be emailed a link to upon signing up for the class & completing payment. I use Google Meet to host my online classes. You can add this to your calendar so it’s easy to join throughout the multi-week series. Classes are not recorded, so if you miss the class… you miss the class. This is both in order to protect privacy of the group AND in order to keep the cost of my classes as low as possible for you as features like recording costs additional monthly fees.

Feel free to email me or let me know before class and I will be happy to make sure you can enjoy your practice. I practice in a trauma-informed way, which means there are already different options provided to choose from depending on your abilities and energy. But reach out or pop in to class early so I can also answer questions, provide modifications specific to you, and try out yoga equipment that may make your practice more comfortable.

I love teaching first timers! You are MOST welcome in my class. I teach trauma-informed yoga which basically means I am always offering a couple different options for each shape or flow. As a beginner you can experiment with these different options to figure out what works for you in your practice.
Nervous about taking your first in person class or returning after a long time away? Just pop in to class a little early or shoot me an email and we can touch base about anything that’s holding you back.

Yes! Just email me at hello@youflourish.ca to see if there is room in the class if you are looking to attend in-person. I rent a small space because I like to teach to smaller groups - BUT that means there may not always be room for a last-minute drop-in! Even if the series is full it’s worth emailing because if someone is going to be away one week, that spot is open for a drop-in. If there’s no space in-person - you can always join virtually.

This is a class series and a growing community of busy people who want to do what they can, even if that’s not an hour practice in a studio.
The class series is online only, and it runs for 30-minutes only. The classes are timed to easily tack on to your day, and leave you enough time to get to/from work (7-7:30am and 4:30-5pm).
The hashtag is one I use on my social media posts to build a community where we can celebrate doing what we can! It’s simply not true that you need to practice everyday, or that a practice needs to be at least 60 minutes to “count”. Life is busy and amidst juggling all the balls you do, celebrate short accesible practices and yoga habits (or informal practices) with me in class or online (IG: @you.flourish). -
Yes, I do! You can email me at hello@youflourish.ca to book a yoga class for your office, for a special day, or anything else! I have taught special group classes for clinics and hospitals, workplaces, and fun events like the morning of a friend’s wedding! Please note I offer special group rates and further deals for recurring bookings (e.g. monthly yoga for your office).

Welcome - you’re in the right place! I love to work with beginners. Private sessions can be structured to answer your specific questions or give you a structured learning experience. Not ready to book just yet? Try out my “Mechanisms of Mindfulness” course on Insight Timer which is a perfect introduction for beginners. There are 5 lessons which are all under 10 minutes - easy to fit in a busy day. Courses are only available in the “plus” section of the app, BUT I’ve designed my course with this in mind. It is short enough to easily be completed within the 7-day free Plus trial that they offer. I also have loads of totally free tracks on Insight Timer as well, outside of the Plus area of the app.

You’re right! There are so many types of mediation - transcendental meditation (TM), mindfulness meditation, metta meditation, theraveda meditation, and the list goes on! I teach mindfulness meditation, which is the style of meditation training which has the most research and evidence behind it. It is secular, though like all meditation its roots come from eastern spiritual traditions such as Buddhism. Mindfulness meditation is a practice that invites the practitioner to connect to the present moment in a kind, curious, and non-judgmental way. I also teach loving-kindness/metta and mindful self-compassion meditations. These styles focus much more on the “kindness” element - offering well wishes and words that we need to hear to nurture and support ourselves.

Self-compassion is a learnable skill (not a trait that we’ re born with!), wherein we respond to difficult thoughts and emotions with kindness and caring. Building self-compassion has been shown to increase emotional wellbeing and resiliency in the face of life’s inevitable stressors. I have found profound benefit from these practices as a healthcare provider and of course as a human being making their way through life!
